HALA membership is selective. Every application is reviewed by the Steering Committee and requires sponsorship by an existing member. We maintain this standard to ensure that our network reflects the calibre of the transatlantic legal community we serve.

Lawyers who are Hungary-based, Hungarian in the United States, or of Hungarian roots — the core of HALA’s transatlantic network.
Lawyers without Hungarian background who support HALA’s mission and wish to contribute to transatlantic legal dialogue.
Non-lawyer professionals — business leaders, academics, and institutional partners — who share HALA’s transatlantic mission.
No law degree required

Every application follows the same four-step process, ensuring each new member meets HALA's standards.
Submit your application through the online membership form, selecting the tier that matches your background.
An existing HALA member sponsors your candidacy. Student applicants provide a faculty recommendation instead.
The Steering Committee reviews each application individually to ensure alignment with HALA’s mission and standards.
Approved members receive their membership certificate, are enrolled in the directory, and gain access to all HALA resources.
Access a curated network of legal professionals spanning Hungary and the United States.
Permanent recognition as a founding member of HALA for those who join before April 28, 2026.
Invitations to HALA symposia, workshops, and receptions in Budapest and Washington, D.C.
Mentorship pairing connecting senior practitioners with junior members and students across both countries.
